Hiro

Lillian waved and called out, “Good Morning Hiro!”

“Good morning Lillian, I hope I didn’t catch you at a bad time.”

“Actually I was just finishing up for the morning.”

Hiro beamed.  “Oh good!  I was hoping that we could maybe spend the day together.”

“Uh sure,” Lillian looked down at her already muddy clothes, “Would you mind if I changed into something a little cleaner first?”

Hiro laughed.  “Go right ahead, I’ll just admire your farm while I wait.”
Lillian nodded and rushed inside.  She tore off her dirty clothes and tossed them into the hamper before quickly rubbing any dirt off with a wet washcloth in the bathroom.  She dug through her drawers until she found the outfit Hiro had complemented her on one day when she was visiting him at the clinic.  It was a yellow top with a grey jacket and red pants.  She slipped a pair of comfortable shoes on and hooked her rucksack around her hips before returning outside.  “Hey I’m ready, sorry for making you wait.  Where are we headed?”

Hiro blushed slightly at the sight of her.  “Oh well I thought that we could go for a walk on the mountain and then have lunch together.”

“Sounds great, let’s go!”  

The pair started to walk but Hiro was struggling to come up with a conversation topic.  
Lillian didn’t mind though, she was just happy to be spending time with Hiro.  She had fallen for the sweet doctor’s apprentice after she discovered their mutual love of cooking.  He had also taken such good care of her when she landed herself in the clinic from exhaustion.  She hated to make him worry, but it was sweet the way he fussed over her.  Lillian stumbled over a rock but quickly regained her balance.

Hiro reached out and caught her arm. “Oh are you alright Lillian?”  

She laughed.  “Yeah I’m fine but I might need you to keep a hold on me, I’m so clumsy.”

Hiro mumbled, “I-I could hold y-your hand.  If-f you like.”

Lillian blushed but responded, “Ok.”

Hiro held his hand out and Lillian shyly took it.  She interlaced her fingers with his and he gave a gentle squeeze.  “Better?”

Lillian giggled and nodded.  “Yeah now you can be my hero Hiro.”

Hiro’s face turned a deep shade of red.  “I-I would like that.”

Lillian cocked her head.  “Like what?”

“To be your Hiro.”

Lillian let out a nervous giggle.  “Oh,” she paused for a moment, “So what’s stopping you?”

Hiro stopped walking.  Lillian paused with him as he thought.  “Well I suppose nothing, if you want me to be yours.”

“I uh actually have wanted that for a while now.”

Hiro smiled and took Lillian’s other hand in his free one.  He faced her and pressed his forehead to hers.  “Me too.”

Lillian laughed.  “Well what kept you from asking?”

Hiro shrugged.  “I wasn’t sure if you would want to be with a simple doctor’s apprentice.”

“Oh poo, your more than that to me.”  She quickly kissed his nose before continuing, “The question is really, do you want to be with a clumsy farm girl?”

Hiro smiled.  “Of course!  Then I’ll know that you’ll always receive the best care when you fall.”  Lillian blushed and Hiro couldn’t wait any longer.  He leaned in and placed a tender kiss on her lips.  When he pulled away he said with a smile, “I love you.”

Lillian smiled back, her heart pounding from the feeling of his lips on hers. “I love you too.”
